Use it or lose it

Use it or lose it. That is the choice facilities managers have to make nowadays about each part of the property they manage. They must decide what space they need as well how to get the best out of it and what space they don’t and what they should do about that. Making those decisions depends on having the best information about how rooms and other facilities are used.
As awareness of FM’s strategic role has risen over recent years, the information and tools available to them have improved markedly. There’s an old saying from Peter Drucker that what gets measured gets managed. It is a truism for many facets of the facilities management role and not least in the way that we measure and use space. Knowing what is happening within the workplace is easily the most essential step in making intelligent choices about how that space can be designed, managed or divested.
The best modern technology is able to help FMs make these decisions do this in very sophisticated ways and addresses issues such as the use of meeting rooms, employee and visitor behaviour and security, hospitality and use of other resources.
