Unilever takes the high road with car park booking software

-New system inspires flexi-working and carbon footprint reduction-
FMCG brand manufacturer, Unilever, has teamed up with workplace management company, RNM Systems, to implement its Condeco Car Parking software tool to manage staff parking at its new office facilities in Leatherhead, Surrey.
With just 520 parking spaces available for a 1,400 strong workforce, the majority of which regularly practice remote working, Condeco will allow Unilever staff to book their parking spaces via the company’s Intranet. Based on individual working patterns, each employee will receive a set allocation of parking spaces per quarter which they can request online in advance whenever necessary. The software has also been integrated with the car park barrier system to enforce the new scheme and ensure that employees book before driving.
Unilever has been working closely with travel consultants to deploy a Green Travel Plan to support the installation of Condeco. The plan will help Unilever staff to move away from single occupational journeys to work, whilst promoting the use of public transport and car sharing to further reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
Ian Dunning, head of facilities management at Unilever UK, said: “Having recently consolidated our UK offices from three buildings into just one, we were faced with the challenge of only being able to provide 37% of our staff with permanent parking spaces. Condeco Car Parking allows all our staff to benefit from our limited parking facilities in a fair and user-friendly way. The system will not only make our working lives a lot easier, but will also help us to operate in a more eco-friendly way as a company.”
