Digital signage 'set for significant rise in popularity'

25 January 2010

The digital signage market was worth $3.9 billion (£2.4 billion) in 2009 - and will grow by 20 per cent every year until 2013, according to new research. “

IMS Research suggests that the digital signage industry is one of the few that has flourished throughout the recession as companies rush to implement the technology and enjoy the benefits it brings.

Some people may even have reached the stage where, because of the rapid advancements made, their digital signage has become outdated and they are installing the latest models instead. Especially companies wanting to improve their professional image can benefit from digital signage when deployed in an office or workplace.

More importantly, during the recession digital signage in offices may actually have helped companies to manage their meeting rooms, desks and car parking better and to provide key business intelligence enabling them to save on office and real estate costs.

Industry analyst Sanju Khatri last week said that adding touch-screen capability to digital signage will help the industry to enjoy huge growth in the coming years.

“The demand for our digital signage with touch screen functionality also soared during the recession” comments Paul Statham, Managing Director at RNM Systems / Condeco.

”Fact is that digital signage linked to workspace management solutions can enable companies to manage their costly office space much better thus saving them a fortune on unused real estate or rented unnecessary office space."

Paul Statham continues, "I think the recession opened the eyes for many people to the real estate savings that can be achieved through digital signage, and I’m confident the demand for it will continue to rise.”
